Fleet app - Add an asset to GpsGate

Adding tracker assets to the GpsGate platform is an essential step for effective fleet management and asset tracking. The Fleet app streamlines this process, offering a simple way to add new tracker assets to GpsGate.

This guide provides a detailed walkthrough of the steps required to add and configure an asset.

Steps to be followed: 

1. Open the Fleet app and log in as an Administrator.

2. Tap More in the bottom navigation and select Add asset.

3. Enter a name for your asset and select the specific hardware tracker type.

4. Complete the required tracker details. The available fields and configuration methods depend on the selected tracker model.

The page displays the available options if the tracker supports both SMS and manual configuration.

Note: If the tracker supports only manual configuration, then the 'Configure tracker' page will open directly once you input the tracker name and the hardware. Enter the tracker identifier requested by the app and tap Create asset. Then, you have to configure the tracker in the configurator tool to report to the Hostname and the Port specified in this 'Configure tracker' page.

5. In the next screen, you'll configure the tracker by sending two messages. Start by tapping SMS: Set Tracker Identity.

6. The app will redirect you to your phone’s messaging interface to send the command. Send this message.

Note: Sending this SMS may result in additional charges from your service provider.

7. Once the first SMS is sent, return to the app and select the second SMS to be sent.

8. Wait for the tracker’s response.

The tracker is now connected
