Add Custom Asset
If you want to add an asset with more detailed information, the Custom Asset option allows you to include additional configurations. From this panel, you can assign roles, Groups (Tags), markers, and much more.
How to add a custom asset:
1. Choose 'Custom Asset' from the + Asset drop-down menu in the Asset panel.
2. Choose the User Type: Device
3. Select your tracker model from the list:
4. Activate the device model on the platform if it has not been enabled previously.
Example:
5. Enter the IMEI number or select it from the list.
6. Navigate to all the other options on the windows and configure the asset as you prefer.
The asset is not yet reporting
If you selected a tracker brand that is not yet reporting to the platform (for instance, if you didn't follow step 1 above), in that case, you have to enter the Device ID / IMEI number manually. In the 'Configure your tracker' section, you will either view the Public IP or the domain name.
Asset already reporting
If your tracker is connected, selecting the correct model will show the available connections.
Pick the tracker from the list using the tracker ID or IMEI.
Note:
- Only Site Admins can view alternative IMEIs.
- Not applicable to next-generation platforms.
The phone number is optional, but required if you plan to send SMS commands to trackers from the GpsGate platform. Learn more about this feature here.
5. Click on Save.
Congratulations! You've now added a new tracker to the platform!
