Single Sign On installation
The Single Sign On (SSO) with Okta integration consists in these steps:
1. Log in to Site Admin (Legacy) and navigate to the Plugins tab.
2. Click on Get More Plugins > and install the Saml plugin.
3. Go to Applications > Saml tab.
ADFS configuration
4. Click on the Add button and select an application for single sign-on from the drop-down list.
Once the menu is open, do NOT click the Create button yet. We will return to this point later.
5. Create an ADFS configuration setup.
6. Once obtained, set the SAML Metadata URL for your ADFS server. It should be something like:
https://youradfsserver.com/federationmetadata/2007-06/federationmetadata.xml
In case your federation metadata file does not provide a valid HTTP-Redirect URL, you can override it by inserting a custom URL in the 'Override HTTP-Redirect URL' field.
7. Finally, click on the Create button.
GpsGate will download the metadata in the background and pair your GpsGate application with the ADFS server.
Now you have configured the SSO.
When you visit the Single Sign On Url associated with your application, you will be automatically logged in to GpsGate when you are already logged in to ADFS.
OKTA Setup
8. Follow the configure OKTA service guide.
9. Once obtained, paste the Metadata URL obtained in the previous step.
10. Click the Create button.
GpsGate will download the metadata in the background and pair your GpsGate application with the Okta app:
Congratulations! You successfully configured the SSO.
When you visit the Single Sign On URL associated with your application, you will be automatically logged in to GpsGate if you are already logged in to OKTA.
Troubleshooting: Unable to log in via SSO
If you have the correct SSO configuration and permissions but still cannot log in to the web portal, try the following steps:
Option 1: Re-add the affected user
- In Site Admin (Legacy), locate the affected user.
- Remove the user from the site admin user list.
- Delete the user account.
- Re-add the user to the system.
Option 2: Update user information
In some cases, making a minor change to the user's profile on the Site Admin side — such as updating the user's name — and saving it can resolve the login issue without needing to delete and re-add the user.
If neither option resolves the issue, further investigation by the development team may be required. Contact GpsGate support with the affected user details and a description of the error.
