Trackunit device setup

This guide explains how to set up Trackunit devices. The Trackunit platform allows loading position data from OEM manufacturer devices through their API. At GpsGate, we support requesting this data via the API endpoint and displaying the variables within the system.


1. Log in to Site Admin
2. Go to PluginsGet more plugins.
3. Install the Trackunit plugin.

Trackunit Service Provider setup

1. Log in to Site Admin.

2. Go to ServiceProviders.

3. Select Add New Provider.

4. Choose TrackunitProvider

5. Enter the endpoint URL of the API from Trackunit. If the API response contains multiple pages, please include the URL for page 1.

6. Enter username and password to your Trackunit subscription account.

7. Enter CallInterval in second. For example: 900 = 15 mins

8. Enter CustomString with ClientID and ClientSecret.  The format should be ClientID=XXX;ClientSecret=XXX

9. Enter CallTimeout in second. For example: 15 seconds

10. Enter Trackunit in RouteLabel.  (*important)

11. Save.

12. Click Start on the provider's list.

How to add a device in the application

  1. Log in to your application
  2. Click + User
  3. Select Device in User Type drop-down list. Click Next.
  4. Select Device TypeTrackunit Generic.
  5. Fill in the SerialNumber of the tracker as IMEI
  6. Enter a Username and a Name, which is the name displayed on the map and in the list. Click Next.
  7. Select the appropriate roles(_Unit) and tags.
  8. Click Save.
