Tracks: Charts

Note: Tracks is the default experience for users (previously Tracks 2.0 (Beta) in the UI). You can select Tracks (Legacy) from the Tracks panel menu.

The Charts feature in Tracks is a way to visualize your data plotted on a graph. This makes it easy to quickly analyze the data selected in the Tracks panel and find any outliers/situations to address.

Enabling Charts

1. Navigate to Privileges and Plugins for the application

2. Enable the _UseTrackGraph and _UseTrackExport

How to Open Charts

There are multiple ways to open Charts:

1. Main Menu

You can access Charts from the Main Menu > Window > select Charts.

2. Tracks panel

In the tracks panel menu, Open in Charts will open the window Charts with the selected assets, dates, and variables.

3. Track Points

Right-click on any of the rows and click Open in Charts. This will open the data from the selected row in Charts: it plots the data for the asset with the selected columns as variables and the same date.

4. Asset Status

Right-click a widget and press Open in Charts to open Charts with the selected asset, the widget variable, and the default date (today).

How do we use Charts?

To generate a graph, you need to populate it with the asset(s) and the relevant data by selecting the desired variables along with the time and date.

Chart Options

Clicking the hamburger menu in the Chart window will provide you with several options

Export

With the help of this option, you can export the chart data into various file formats.

Hide Offline data

The “Hide Offline Data” option allows us to control how the graph displays data points.

  • When disabled, the graph appears continuous, even if there are gaps in the data due to the device not reporting.

  • When enabled, the graph will display gaps where the device was offline, showing only the exact points when data was actually reported.

This feature helps distinguish between actual reported values and interpolated data.

Clear selection when closing

The Clear Selection When Closing option determines if chart variables remain saved after closing the window.

  • If disabled, previously selected variables stay when reopening the chart via Main Menu → Windows → Chart.
  • If enabled or opened from the Tracks panel, selections reset, showing only variables from the Tracks panel.

This ensures the chart aligns with how it’s accessed.

Color management

This feature allows you to color-code assets or variables, making it easier to differentiate them.

  • Color code assets

When you color-code assets, they are displayed in different colors as shown in the image below.

  • Color code variables

When you color-code variables, the variables are represented in different colors as shown in the image below.
