Take pictures with GpsGate using the Camera Plugin

With the Camera plugin you can take pictures using a camera attached to a device. ​This adds an extra layer of security to your fleet management. For example, you can take pictures after certain events in an automated way using Event Rules.

To use this plugin, you need a compatible device with camera support. You can search for a device here by the keyword camera in the search box.

How to install

1. Login to SiteAdmin.
2. Go to plugins.
3. Click on Get More Plugins.
4. Download and install Camera.
5. Enable the plugin for your application in Applications > [Select app] -> Privileges and features > Plugins > Camera.

Usage

The Camera column is now available in the vehicle list indicating the status of pictures for devices:

- green icon: new picture available.
- gray icon: picture available
- faded icon: no picture available

You can access the overview of pictures for a selected vehicle by clicking on the status icon in Camera column, or clicking “Show pictures” in the context menu.

In the overview window, you can filter the pictures by date using the calendar control in the left upper corner, as shown below:

All dates that have pictures are highlighted with a green background inside the calendar. After selecting a date, you can see the thumbnail(s) of any pictures taken on the specified date.

You can also see camera markers on the map for thumbnails which have position available.

You can open high resolution version of the picture by clicking the magnifier icon of thumbnail picture:

Taking a picture

If you have the _TakePicture privilege, you can use the “Take Picture” item in the context menu of the vehicle list to take a picture.

When taking the picture, you will see this message on the screen:

If you click “Yes”, a “Take picture” command will be sent to device aborting the other command in progress.
If you click “No”, nothing happens.

For administrators

After sending the Take Picture command, you can diagnose the response of the device and the command status using the Diagnose the command status in the Terminal Window.
