Migrating GpsGate: Cloud or OnSite?
As your business grows, so do the demands on your tracking infrastructure. Whether you're adding more trackers, upgrading outdated hardware, or optimising performance, migrating your GpsGate system to a new server ensures better reliability and scalability.
For customers using an older GpsGate system or database, there are two primary migration options: moving to the cloud or hosting the system on your server.
1. Moving to the Cloud (Recommended)
The best approach for most customers is to transition to GpsGate Cloud. This ensures automatic updates, better security, and reduced maintenance efforts. Contact the Professional Service team to get started with the transition.
2. Hosting OnSite (Self-Hosted Server)
If cloud migration is not an option and you need to host GpsGate on your server, ensure you're using MySQL 8+. In this case, contact the support team for the latest GpsGate installer file and further instructions.
3. Using MSSQL or MySQL 5?
For customers using MSSQL or MySQL 5, a 1-on-1 Professional Services session is recommended to ensure a smooth migration. Our experts can guide you through the process.
