How to move or copy assets between applications

This guide will show you how to move or copy assets from one application to another.

Note: this method is preferable when you have to specify a small set of users. If you want to 'mirror' a full set of user roles into another application, use UserSync plugin instead.

Adding the asset to the new application

1. Log in to any application as a Site Admin user.

2. Navigate to Main Menu →Site Admin → Applications → Manage Applications

3. Under Applications, choose the application where you want to move the vehicle.

4. Once you selected the application, navigate to Properties under the Administrators dropdown menu and add the user you desire to move to this application.

5. Click on Save.

Activate the device on the new application

To activate the device on the new application, follow these steps carefully, especially if you are transferring a device from a previous system:

1. Open the Roles window:
- Under the "_Administrator_" role, remove the vehicle that has just been moved to the new application.
2. In the same Roles window:
- Under the "_Unit_" role, select the specific device we previously discussed.

3. Assign Tags:
- Open the Tags section and assign the vehicle to a specific tag or make it visible on the map by assigning the appropriate tag.

4. Check Device Type and Mapper:
- Ensure that the device is configured with the correct device type and that it is properly mapped using the correct device-mapper.

Removing the assets from the original application

To avoid the asset being in two applications (the original and the new one), follow these steps:

1. Navigate to Main Menu →Site Admin → Applications → Manage Applications

2. Under Applications, choose the application where the device was originally. 

3. Once in the application, remove the user by editing the user → Delete.

The user will just be removed from the original application, it will still exist on the new application.
