Understanding IMEI Duplicate Error in GpsGate

When adding a device with a unique IMEI to GpsGate, whether to the same platform or a different one, you may encounter the following error message:

"A User with the same Username - 1234IMEI1234 - already exists in the database."

Why Does This Error Occur?

Each device added to GpsGate is identified by a unique IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number. The system uses this IMEI as a unique identifier to ensure there are no duplicate entries in the database. If an attempt is made to add a device with an IMEI that already exists in the system, GpsGate will generate an error to prevent duplication.

Steps to Resolve the Error

1. Verify the IMEI: Double-check the IMEI number you are trying to add. Ensure that it is correct and unique.

2. Remove or Update Duplicate Entries: If the IMEI is found and should not be duplicated, consider removing the existing entry if it is no longer needed, or update it as necessary.

Note: You can verify the IMEI in the User Search

3. Contact Support: If you cannot resolve the issue, contact GpsGate support for further assistance. Provide details of the IMEI and any relevant screenshots, such as the error message.
