Enabling the strong password feature in your applications

Strong passwords help keep applications and data safe. Read below to find out how to enable strong passwords on servers (and their applications) created before the December 2019 release. Any GpsGate servers created after this release will automatically have the stronger password requirements enabled. You can change the settings on an application level for custom security needs.

Enabling strong password

An administrator user can update this setting from within any application.

1. From the main menu, choose Server Administration -> Server -> Settings

2. Go to the Security tab.

3. Enable the Strong password option.

3. Save.

Optionally, as seen in the image, you can also enable the password expiration, automatic logout, 2 factor authentication, and more to improve security in your server even more.

When creating a new user (e.g.: an Operator or an Administrator) inside an application, there will be new password requirements for new users. The requirements will also apply to existing users when they change or reset their passwords.
