GpsGate paid units - which users affect payment?
This article explains how payment and licensing work in GpsGate for billing purposes. You'll find out which users affect payment and how to see such users.
How to check your current usage
You can easily check your monthly consumption in Site Admin. Log in and go to Site Admin > Settings > License to see how many billable devices you have.
Which users affect payment?
In GpsGate, payment is defined by the average number of devices tracked throughout the month. You can read more details about this at the bottom of this page.
If you own the legacy licensing system, licenses are consumed by tracked users (shown as devices on the License tab). In order to save tracking information to a user, it's necessary for the user configuration to have a role that has activated the privilege _DeviceLogin (by default, the Role _Unit has this privilege activated).
To access _DeviceLogin, you need to log in to the application and go to
Admin > Roles > 3. Privileges > Login > _DeviceLogin
(By default the role _Unit has this privilege activated)
You can also use Overview to check which role the user belongs to.
To verify which users are affecting payment or consuming licenses, use the User Search tool and mark the Only show paid units option.
To free a license, is it necessary to remove the user?
No, it's not necessary. If you want to keep the user data and free a license, you can disable the Role _Unit and any custom Roles you have added that includes _DeviceLogin.
