Skywave device setup

This guide shows how to setup Skywave devices. There are three different setup models:

Plugin

1. Login to Site Admin
2. Go to PluginsGet more plugins.
3. Install SkyWave plugin.

Skywave Device Cloud setup

1. Login to Site Admin
2. Go to Devices > Skywave.
3. Select New button.
4. Enter username and password to your SkyWave account.
5. Select Device Cloud.
6. Enter your Organization name in CustomString with prefix DeviceCloud,, for example, "DeviceCloud,ORBCOMM Demo".

Note: ask your provider about the Organization Name.

7. Save.
8. Click Start in the provider's list.

How to add a device in the application

1. Login to your application
2. Click + User
3. Select Device in User Type drop-down list. Click Next.
3. Enter a Username and a Name, which is the name displayed on the map and in list. Click Next.
4. Click on Next for Roles.
5. Click on Next for Tags.
6. Select Device Type > SkyWave GT1100.
7. Fill in the ID of the tracker.
8. Click Save.

Skywave IDP setup

1. Login to Site Admin
2. Go to Devices > Skywave.
3. Click New.
4. Enter Username and Password and select IDP
5. Select the Provider from the list.
6. Save.

How to add a device in the application

1. Login to your application
2. Click + User
3. Select Device in User Type drop-down list. Click Next.
3. Enter a Username and a Name, which is the name displayed on the map and in list. Click Next.
4. Click on Next for Roles.
5. Click on Next for Tags.
6. Select Device Type > SkyWave IDP Standard.
7. Fill in the Terminal ID of the tracker.
8. Click Save.

Skywave DMR/DAP-XML setup

1. Login to Site Admin
2. Go to Devices > Skywave.
3. Click New.
4. Enter Username and Password and select DAP or ASPI-XML
5. Save.

Additional notes

  • For custom poll messages, please contact support and we will add a Device Type with custom fields.
  • To monitor data communication between tracker and server you can use the Terminal.
  • Use Template Commands to manage your trackers remotely
  • Custom URL: GpsGate will make a GET request like this:
    https://IDP_Custom_URL/get_return_messages.json?access_id=username&password=pswd&start_utc=2019-04-01

    If the report in the terminal starts with "[mobileid]/skywave/sky" the report was received over IDP satellite gateway. If the report starts with "[mobileid]/skywave/http" the report was received over GPRS.
