Plugin Installation

  1. Login to SiteAdmin and go to the Plugins tab
  2. Select the Get More Plugins > install the Dispatch plugin

Application Setup

Activate Dispatch

  1. Go to SiteAdmin > Applications (select an application) > Privileges and Features Plugins > Dispatch. Enable all the privileges under that category. 
  3. Save your application settings at the bottom of the page

Setup a workspace

  1. Login to your VehicleTracker application as an Administrator
  2. Go to the menu WindowsDispatch
  3. Move the panel to a suitable location by drag-dropping the window
  4. Go to the menu Workspace > Save As and set a name, for example Dispatch.

About Jobs

What is a job? A job is a task to be performed by the user. For example:

- A package delivery

- A repair to be performed in a house

- A route for pizza deliveries

Creating Jobs

You can create a new Job in different ways:

Option 1: In the Dispatch panel

To create a job from the Dispatch panel, click on the Add button

Option 2: From the Map

To create a job directly from the map, right-clicking on the location and selecting Create new Job (here)


Both options will bring up the Add Job window where you can add and edit the details for the Job. Depending on the option selected above some of the fields are pre-populated.

Name:  Is the name of the task. You can input here anything you want.
Location:  Shows the location for the job. You can type an address in the field or pick the location directly from the map with the Pick Job Location context menu.
Scheduled:  Used to set a date for a Job. Jobs with a scheduled date only show up on that date. Jobs without a scheduled date show up every day. This information is sent out to workers when a job is dispatched
Worker:  Lets you pick a worker for unassigned jobs and for assigned jobs it shows the worker.
Job State: 
  • Unassigned: this will be only available if no worker has been selected.
  • Assigned: this becomes available if a worker has been selected. In that case, the job is not yet dispatched to the worker (no notification on the Dispatch app is received), only assigned for future dispatch.
  • Dispatched: using this option, the job will be sent to the worker straight away and it will receive a notification in his Dispatch app.
  • Active: this status implies that the task is being performed at this moment by the worker. This status is also reached when the user click in Start in the Dispatch app.
  • Completed: it means that the job is already performed/delivered.
Comments:  This section allows workers and operators to add information to the Job as progress is made.


Option 3: importing a job or a set of jobs using a TXT file

If you want to import jobs in batch mode, you can do this by selecting Import from the advanced menu

The Dispatch window

The Dispatch window shows an overview of all jobs for the selected date. Here you can see today's progress, look at your job history and plan future jobs.

1.Today:  This button moves you to today to show the status of current jobs. The button is grey when you are looking at today.
2.Calendar:  The calendar allows moving back and forward historic and planned jobs.
3.Add:  The button allows creating jobs, routes or schedules.
4.Unassigned:  It's a queue that shows all unassigned jobs that either have no scheduled date, an older scheduled date or the date you are viewing. Jobs scheduled for a future date are only visible at that date.
5.Worker rows:  Each worker has its own row with jobs assigned. Only the workers in the current view will be displayed.

Job Lists

Use the stack icon to open the Job List window

In this window, you'll get detailed information about the worker jobs

You can right-click a Job to edit it or to pan the map to the job location

It is possible to drag and drop jobs between workers to share out the workload.

A typical use is to create or import a large quantity of jobs into the Unassigned row and then drag them to a worker. 


Job Types

There are different job types you can create from the small arrow near the Create button

Job:  a single job already described.  
Route:  a set of jobs grouped under the same category.  guide
